Gettin’ Frilly With It

Today’s post is all about color, ruffles and getting over the fact that I don’t have to have a physical, mental or emotional revelation every week (bye bye anxiety… at least temporarily!)

As much as I love color (and mind blowing revelations), I tend to wear black a lot, but when I find a dress like this, wearing something other than black is a no brainer! Here are 3 simple tips I use when jumping ship:

  1. Fit. This dress is fitted where it needs to be (in the waist i.e. the smaller part of my body). I love black because it is versatile and slimming, so I pay extra attention to fit when I don’t wear black. As a side note, I rarely if ever wear white because I find that it shows every “lump and bump” (then again there’s always Spanx!)
  2. Nude shoes. Nude goes with everything so you don’t have to worry about “matching” anything. The pearl accents on my sandals go perfectly with my pearl necklace (BONUS!)
  3. Chin up. We’ve all heard that confidence is the best outfit we can wear but let’s face it–we don’t always practice what we preach (or hear). When wearing something different than we normally wear, we are already out of our comfort zone so don’t let that tiara slip off your head! The dress can wear you or you can wear the dress–which way do YOU want it to be?

Now go on and get jiggy (and frilly) with it!
