All You Need Is Love

All you need is love… self love to be exact. One of the things I promised myself when I started my blog is that I would keep things real. Yes, I love fashion and pretty pictures but the feelings behind the pretty pictures aren’t always pretty.

As many of you already know from my first blog post, I lost my best friend (and boyfriend) to cancer in January. I’ve never felt so alone in my entire life. I’m not sharing this to make you feel sorry for me–I’m sharing this because you may have felt this way at some point in your life (or perhaps you feel this way NOW!)

Yes, I have extremely supportive parents and a handful of friends that have TRULY been there for me, but one of the major things I’ve realized is that I’ve always looked to OTHERS for my happiness (and validation). Now, I don’t think this is entirely a bad thing because we are supposed to lean on people that we love (and vice versa), but when it comes down to it, the only person that can pick myself back up again and figure out my life is ME. Not mommy, not daddy, and no one else.

So how do I figure sh*t out? I decided to do what my dad has done throughout his entire life. Read… a LOT (thank you dad and happy early Father’s Day!) ❤️ I know I’m not going to figure things out overnight, which is hard for an impatient person like myself to accept, but I know it’s all about taking one baby step after the next (and the “I am love” message on the top I’m wearing is a great little reminder too and can be worn with anything!)

P.S. In case you’re interested, here is what I’m currently reading:

  1. You Are A Badass (I know I’m a Badass but I doubt myself sometimes, ahem… a LOT of the time!)
  2. The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up (I have a lot of crap I don’t use but feel guilty getting rid of.)
  3. Codependent No More (This one is hard for me to admit that I’m reading, but I knew something wasn’t right when I couldn’t physically be alone in my own home.)

WHAT AM I WEARING?

Great job, Jasmin! It’s hard, and I’m glad to see you turning your pain into a learning for others. I’ve read all 3 books as well. Keep up the great work!
